There’s a single elderly gentleman, Mr Chan, that visited the nursing home we’re operating in Petaling Jaya (Kuala Lumpur) looking for a place. His children are overseas and his wife has passed away, leaving him all alone.
When he visited the nursing home, he saw that many were ill, bed-bound, on tubes. He’s not that ill, he has some high blood pressure and diabetes but otherwise, he’s able to walk, clean himself and do some light activities.
He then offered us his condominium and asked us if we can help bring care and companions into his condominium, so that he may have social interaction and share the costs of care and living.
After some brainstorming, we came up with the Eldershare concept, whereby we help him convert his place to an elderly friendly setting (at his cost) and bring like-minded seniors to share his living space (after rigorous background checks).
They then do life together at a fraction of the cost, and with professional caregivers and medical oversight by doctors and nurses. They could live in peace knowing full well that they’re properly cared for.
